FLY AWAY Exhibition
Wynwood Art District - Second Saturday Gallery Walk – October 10th 2009
FlightStudio Gallery held the FLY AWAY Opening on October 10th. This
opening was extremely well attended and very special, both in an artistic
and in a community sense. The artist, Bernardo Medina, spoke to the audience
and shared with them the story and inspiration of his wonderful art pieces.
After these inspirational words, Bernardo took the event to a higher level
for the audience and the InterFlight Studio team. He sat down with the
visitors and taught them his special way to make paper planes that his
father showed him when he was young. This was a very intimate moment between
artist and guests, which was enhanced by Bernardo's request to throw the
planes and see how far they could fly. "Our gallery has hosted wonderful
artists in the past, but Bernardo managed to provide an experiential
interaction with guest and collectors, young and old, as I had never seen
before" Oscar Garcia, owner of the gallery states, "It is very unique when
an artist can materialize his source of inspiration in the shape of an
airplane, with the spirit of flight".
Two of the paper airplanes flew gracefully and long across the hall,
coincidentally, they were planes made by a man and a woman of very diverse
backgrounds. Yvette and Cyntia, of FlightStudio Gallery, gave each "paper
plane artist" a gift to celebrate such a pleasant and delightful moment. The
photos of Bernardo with his impromptu "paper airplane artists" show the
magic of this event.
